Custom quilting costs are calculated by project, ranging from 3 cents to 5 cents per square inch. Mist Flower Quilt Studio will work closely with the quilt owner to choose designs, determine density of quilting and overall appearance of each custom project. A price estimate will then be sent to the quilter for approval. 

Custom quilting projects typically have a 4-6 week turnaround time but an estimated completion date will be included with the price estimate.

Batting is available to purchase from Mist Flower Quilts. We supply top-of-the-line batting cut from rolls for superior softness, sizing and ease of quilting.

Hobbs Heirloom Wool

Hobbs Heirloom® Premium 100% Wool Batting has become one of our most sought-after battings due to its soft and luxurious feel and the way it brings out a quilter’s piecing and stitching. It needles wonderfully, maintains loft, and has exceptional resilience.

Hobbs Heirloom® Premium 100% Wool Batting is a lightweight, breathable batting that breathes naturally and is comfortable for use in all climates, even hot and humid climates!

Hobbs Heirloom Wool Batting is made of the finest super washed wool in the world – this super washing process successfully smooths the scales on the wool fibers, making it pleasant to the touch and less likely to shrink.

This product, while lightweight, is also strong and resists bearding and migration.

  • Machine wash using delicate cycle, cool water, lay flat to dry
  • Shrinkage 2-5% on first wash

Eversewn 100% Bamboo

This 100% natural bamboo fiber batting is made from renewable resources. It is durable, antibacterial, breathable, and has a thin scrim to prevent stretching and bunching.

  • Machine wash and dry using delicate cycle
  • Shrinkage 2-5% on first wash

Hobbs Heirloom Blend

Hobbs Heirloom® Premium 80/20 Cotton/Poly Blend Batting is one of the most popular battings on the market and for good reason. It offers more loft and less weight than traditional cotton batting, is durable and machine-washable, and is suitable for a variety of applications, including for use in utility quilts, children’s quilts, charity quilts, and for quilts being given as gifts, as well as in table runners, placemats, wall quilts/hangings.

Heirloom® Premium Cotton Blend is made from 80% long-staple cotton fibers and 20% fine polyester. This combination of fibers creates a strong, long wearing batt and is very easy to handle.

The batting is lightly needle punched and treated with a soft resin to provide stability to the fibers and prevent the polyester from bearding.

  • Machine wash and dry
  • Shrinkage 3-5% on first wash

Our Thread

Thread costs are included in E2E pricing. Mist Flower Quilts uses Omni poly-wrapped/poly core thread by Superior. This is a 40wt polyester thread designed to withstand the rigors of high-speed quilting, washing, and use. Available in an array of colors to coordinate beautifully with every quilting project.

Preparing Your Quilt

For best results, quilters are encouraged to prep their top for machine quilting following the guidelines below prior to delivery to the studio:

  • Backing fabric should be pieced (if needed), squared up and pressed.
  • Backing fabric and batting should be 4” larger than the quilt top on all sides.
  • Quilt top should be squared up, seams pressed and stray threads trimmed.
  • Please indicate if the quilt top and/or backing is directional.

 

*Please note, Mist Flower Quilts does not recommend using bed sheets as backing. For best results, please provide 100% quilting cotton backings.
